I have to confess we don't have many wild deer loose in the Peak District so the opportunity to get deer photos is quite rare, unfortunately. Theses deer photos are taken in the vast grounds of Chatsworth House and Gardens. Throughout the year, the sheep and cows who normally graze as you drive through, are filling the fields up so my deer photos just don't happen- fantastic to photograph in their own right and some of these can be seen in the Sheep Photos and Cow Photos pages, but in early Spring the deer are brought over the river and we get to see them straight from the road which runs through.
Deer are so skittish it's always a great challenge to capture them on film and I have to go in stealth mode to find them. I try and creep up and have to literally see which way the wind is blowing to stay down wind and they hear any little movement - their hearing is remarkable. It's alway a pleasure to see them and very satisfying when I can get shots like these.
I've also taken some photographs in and around the grounds of the architecture and gorgeous scenery of Chatsworth and these can be found in the Peak District Landscape Photograph page
