There are many Birds Of Prey in the Peak District, ranging from kestrels, owls to merlins - there have even been sightings of a red kite which I am keeping a look out for. The red kite is a very rare bird of prey to these parts. As soon as I capture this elusive bird of prey on camera you'll be the first to know but why not sign up to our Newsletter and we can let you know as soon as it happens? I have a lot of owl photos which I decided to give their own page but they are definitely the most prolifically seen bird of prey for me.
I have a pair of buzzards who I see regularly and when they're not circling high in the sky, they land on the white limestone walls and the contrast of their brown plumage against the yellow lichen on the wall is incredible to see. I know eaxctly the tree they roost in and I can usually find them. It's a very rewarding sight and to see them next to a crow, for example, really highlights how powerful these stunning birds are.
